i was submerged
i had fallen under
the signal lost
replaced by nothing

in this new time
and in this new light
my eyes are opened

and i still can't see
if i was drowning
or truly breathing

now i lie in wait
while i hold on to
something i once had
this failing pretense

the din of existence
is deafening
unintelligible voices
are made clear to me

if i'm submerged
if i'm to falter under
i will replace it
i will become this

and in this new time
and in this new light
my eyes still open

so i'll wait and see
as only time can show
if i'm above this
